The family is a God institution our families reflect the presence of God in our lives. Little foxes are the very small things that kill our families quietly and slowly.
Below I examine 7 foxes that create cracks in our families and if ignored destroy them:
1. Silent Unrealistic Expectations: Assumption is a dangerous seed in any relationship because after a while we start saying “I thought he would” or “she would” or “we would” this will bring quiet frustration. Always ensure you are on the same page when it comes to expectations – Habakkuk 2:2.
2. Money Miseries: Money is a serious silent killer for what it represents to a man and to a woman. The presence or the absence of money may frustrate you. When mishandled it may brew very wrong emotions – Luke 14:28.
3. Divided Loyalties: Who comes first? Your family of origin, or the family that originates from you? Do not have divided loyalties.
4. Silent Resentment: James 1:20 tells us that anger does not bring out the righteousness of God. Silent resentment is being secretly angry at another person and never saying anything about it.
5. Forgetting That Marriage Precedes Children: Children are not a project neither do they precede the marriage, a good marriage produces good children. Do not hide in the children – Psalms 127:3-5.
6. Personal and Selfish Ambitions: Making career decisions without consultation or examining the impact it has on the family at large. Being selfish in the pursuing our personal growth – Amos 3:3.
7. Pornography: This is one of the most destructive killers of the family. It makes people withdrawn, have low self-esteem and self-confidence. It kills relationships quietly because it creates a non-existent world of imagination that prevents people from engaging in real time life.
